Bob Beckel is one of the most recognizable personalities on Fox News.
He was one of the original hosts on ‘The Five’ before taking a break from the show to deal with personal issues.
Beckel recently returned to the show and revived his role as the angry liberal on the panel.
Looks like that role is going to be filled by someone else very soon.
According to Variety:
“Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee,” the network said in a statement.
Obviously, Fox is a little sensitive right now to issues like this considering they are in crisis mode over the sexual harassment allegations.
Things aren’t going well in the workplace on the race relations front either.
It’s well known that Bob is a crass and crude guy.
Looks like his act finally wore thin.
Beckel went to CNN after leaving Fox the first time.
Will he pop up there again?
Or is his career on television finally done?
UPDATE: Here’s the remark.
From The Daily Mail:
Fox News Channel said Friday that it had fired liberal commentator Bob Beckel for making a racially insensitive remark to a black employee.
Fox offered no details on the case, but a lawyer for the employee said Beckel had “stormed out” of his office Tuesday when the man, who is a technician, came to do work on his computer, saying he was leaving because the worker was black.
The lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, also said that Beckel attempted to intimidate his client and get him to withdraw his complaint in a meeting Friday with Fox executive Kevin Lord. Fox denied that anyone tried to persuade the man to withdraw his complaint, and said that Beckel had apologized to him after he was fired.
