Like many of the opinion givers crowding journalism today, Fareed Zakaria does not like Donald Trump.
He does not like Trump’s policies. He does not like Trump’s personality. And he does not like many of the things Trump has done in the past. Fareed is not a guy you would expect to see sipping a glass of Trump Wine with his dinner at a Trump hotel, to put it mildly.
In fact, just before the presidential election, Fareed laid out a case against voting for Trump, saying that the Republican’s core beliefs are racism, sexism, protectionism, xenophobia, and authoritarianism.
Yet despite his disdain for the president, Fareed had always attempted to comport himself in a manner befitting his brilliant academic career.
This may no longer be the case.
In a recent appearance on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, the bilingual Ivy League-educated Zakaria resorted to the language of the barroom to express his contempt for the President.
*Warning for graphic language*
“He has spent his whole life bullshitting. He has succeeded by bullshitting. He has gotten to the presidency by bullshitting,” It is very hard to tell somebody at that point that bullshit doesn’t work, because look at the results, right?”
Fareed’s choice of language may come as a surprise to many in his audience who have become accustomed to hearing him deliver his Trump attacks in a much more erudite manner. But it does not yet seem as though his choice of language will elicit either an apology or reprimands from his Trump-hostile network.
CNN is so loyal to Fareed in fact, that the network continues to employ him despite the 2014 revelation that the host was guilty of 24 instances of plagiarism on his show, for which Fareed has since apologized.
