The vast majority of us hope to get out of working too hard around the holidays—
but not one Indianapolis teenager, who showed up to work post-car accident so that he could feed the homeless on Christmas.
Jakeem Tyler was photographed by customer Cameron Nelson working the register at Chick-fil-A while wearing a constricting neck brace and arm sling.
Nelson wanted to help, so he set up a GoFundMe (which has since gone viral) in Jakeem’s name.
Check it out, via Daily Mail:
Nelson said in a Facebook post:
I stopped at Chick-fil-A & decided to go in cause the drive-thru was too long, and I saw this young man working with a neck brace & a sling. We sneeze too hard & decide to call in, but he’s workin like nothing’s wrong.
When I placed my order, I asked him what happened… he said he was involved in a car accident, but he was working cause he needs the money & also wants to feed the homeless for Christmas & needs the cash… maybe I was supposed to go in there. I think I may kick down a hundred or two on payday to help him out… he’s definitely doin it for a great cause & I was amazed he’s still workin despite his condition.
The page had raised $45,000 as of this morning and money is still rolling in.
Jakeem says he hopes to open a charitable foundation with the money to continue his mission of helping those in need.
