2017 not only brings the exit of President Barack Obama, it also brings the exit of one of the most despicable, reprehensible human beings to ever defile Congress.
You know him as Former Senate minority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.).
Reid’s done a lot of horrible things in his time, not the least of which was the lies he leveled about Mitt Romney’s taxes just to help defeat him in 2012.
But as Reid exits the scene, stage left, he leaves us with one final act.
From Free Beacon:
Former Senate minority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) used campaign funds to pay a former staffer $7,000 to paint a portrait that is displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
The portrait was unveiled last month during a farewell ceremony for the long-time Democratic leader. Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ken.), Vice President Joe Biden, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) all attended the ceremony.
Gavin Glakas, a former staffer for Reid, painted the portrait that will remain in the Capitol. On April 19, 2016, a $7,000 check for a “portrait” was cut to Glakas from Friends for Harry Reid, the campaign committee for the former senator.
The Free Beacon asked for a response to these allegations.
Neither Reid nor the portrait maker responded.
The FEC has previously rendered an advisory position that would suggest Reid’s actions may be legal, as the Free Beacon notes.
But, as with many things with Harry Reid, this act goes right up to the line of legality and certainly trips over the line of the appearance of impropriety.
The despicable Harry Reid doesn’t care about propriety, just self-promotion.
