At the Golden Globes on Sunday, Meryl Streep set off a wave of reaction with an incoherent rant against President-elect Donald Trump.
The rant in which she refers to the alleged mocking of a reporter, dislike of foreigners and the press immediately went viral.

The claim that Presidnt-elect Donald Trump wants to deport everyone who came from another country, the ‘foreigners’ is of course a straw man, as Trump never said any such thing.
If that were true, he’d have to deport his own wife. Not to mention his own mother, if she were alive, since she was from Scotland.
Streep also refers to Trump making hand gestures about a disabled reporter. Trump has denied that he was mocking hm.
Streep acts as if the press were in danger from Trump?
Who spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen? Who constantly criticized the basic validity of Fox News? Hint: it wasn’t Trump.
Streep, in her argument for a press allowed to do its job, forgets that many in the press have abrogated their jobs, to act in collusion with the Democratic party in the effort to get Hillary Clinton elected.
Why are actors suddenly concerned about having the press hold politicians to account when they weren’t the least bit concerned about holding Barack Obama to account? Or Hillary Clinton for that matter?
Many in media are praising Streep’s rant, one even calling her a ‘freedom fighter’.

What’s been left out of the equation is that Meryl Streep has been a supporter of Hillary Clinton for years, appearing at many events to push her candidacy.
In her rant, Streep said ‘Disrespect invites disrespect’.
Here’s Streep mocking Trump last year.
Perhaps Streep needs to take a lesson from her own words…
