Former Democratic Mayor of Fairfax, Va. Richard “Scott” Silverthorne pleaded guilty to a felony drug distribution charge on Monday. The former elected official was arrested in August on the charge according to USA Today.

Prior to being the Mayor, Silverthorne had been on the city council for an aggregate period of almost 20 years. He’d just won another term as Mayor before his arrest. He resigned as mayor after his arrest.

According to Heavy, Silverthorne wrote of his mission as mayor, “One of my key priorities has been to create bike lines, sidewalks & trails to promote a healthy lifestyle.”
