It is pretty clear to most rational observers that President Obama doesn’t care about the vets very much.
Letting 300,000 vets die waiting for care was a solid indicator of that.
House Republicans thought it would be nice to raise the pay for the military.
You know, because they kinda deserve it.
Obama had other ideas.
In late April, the House Armed Services Committee drafted legislation proposing a 2.1% pay raise for military personnel. If passed, it would end the three-year White House-led streak of military pay raises that failed to keep pace with inflation and civilian wage increases.
But as Stars and Stripes reported, President Obama responded with a counter offer — one that now looks likely to make it through the Senate — of just 1.6%, dropping the increase back below the amount needed to match the rising cost of living.
Obviously this doesn’t come as a surprise but you would think that the .5% difference would be something Obama could let slide.
He lets everything else slide when it comes to spending.
But yet, all of a sudden, he now pretends to care about the budget when the military is involved.
