Liberals, particularly those in media, have a habit of dropping fake news stories out there about President Donald Trump, his family and his aides.

So the attack over the weekend against Melania Trump by a New York Times reporter is perhaps not surprising, albeit totally despicable.

From The Blaze:

The New York Times has reprimanded an unnamed reporter for referring to first lady Melania Trump as a “hooker” at an event over the weekend, according to Politico.

News of the incident made headlines Monday when model Emily Ratajkowski tweeted that she had sat next to a Times reporter at an event on Sunday who made the claim about Trump.

Fortunately, Emily Ratajkowski called the reporter out.

“Sat next to a journalist from the NYT last night who told me ‘Melania is a hooker.’ Whatever your politics it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should,” Ratajkowski tweeted. “Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bulls**t.”

Doubtless, the reporter thought Ratajkowski was a liberal and so would be cool with an attack on Trump.

She is a liberal but she was not cool with the ‘war on women’ effort.

The New York Times called the remarks “completely inappropriate.”

“At a party last night, a Times reporter who does not cover Washington or politics, referred to an unfounded rumor regarding Melania Trump,” a Times spokesperson told Politico. “The comment was not intended to be public, but it was nonetheless completely inappropriate and should not have occurred. Editors have talked to the reporter in question about the lapse.”

While they called it “inappropriate” and said the reporter had been “talked to,” they did not specify what the punishment the reporter received for “the lapse.”

Melania Trump praised Emily Ratajkowski for defending her.

Who was the reporter? While he was not identified by the New York Times, Jacob Bernstein apologized on Twitter for his remarks.

“Speaking at a party in what I thought was a personal conversation, I nevertheless made a stupid remark about the first lady,” Bernstein wrote. “My editors have made it clear my behavior was not in keeping with the standards of the Times, and I agree.”

“My mistake, referring to unfounded rumors, shouldn’t reflect on anyone else and I apologize profusely,” he added.

Completely lacking in class and one wonders what the reprimand was?

Just don’t do it again? Or don’t get caught?
