A pro-Trump rally disintegrated into a brawl in Berkeley, California on Saturday when a group of antifa leftists attacked it, and the two groups then traded punches.

News captured the multiple fights and people being beaten and kicked by the masked antifa.

But you may notice something missing in the scene.

While initially Berkeley Police seemed to be reacting correctly and trying to break up the fights, they later seemed to disappear or pull back.

Multiple reports indicated that the police did not respond and stood down at a certain point, while the attacks and brawls continued to happen.

Shane Bauer, a reporter for Mother Jones, interviewed three police officers who he found basically standing back or sitting in their car, rather than responding.

These first two don’t appear at all happy with not responding.

This was one of the problems during the prior riot in Berkeley that involved antifa attacking attendees at a speech by Milo Yiannopolous in March.

It’s not the fault of the individual police if they’re holding back as a group. If that’s true, it’s a policy decision.

Is this another “we have to give them space to destroy” decision, like the Mayor of Baltimore said during their riots?

So what gives, Berkeley? What’s the excuse for this?
