Breaking: Senate Holds Key Vote to End Debate on Kavanaugh, and Boy Was it a Nailbiter

Republicans needed to end the debate and vote for cloture on Friday in order to move forward and hold the final confirmation vote on Saturday.

They got it done by a vote of 51-49.

Manchin yes. Murkowski no. Interesting.

From Breitbart:

The Senate passed its motion to vote on cloture, setting up a weekend vote to confirm President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

The Senate voted to pass its motion to cloture on Friday morning, with a vote tally of 51-49, featuring overwhelming Republican support.

Now that Senate passed its cloture motion, the final vote on confirmation will sometime on Saturday.

This doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. This was just a vote to end the debate. Some of these senators could change their minds and vote no on Kavanaugh on Saturday but it definitely looks good. Even if one senator changes his or her mind that would make it a 50-50 tie and Mike Pence would come in and put Republicans over the top.

Susan Collins is apparently going to announce her voting plans later this afternoon in a press conference.

It’s going to come down to the wire but definitely a good day for Republicans and Brett Kavanaugh.

Shame on Lisa Murkowski.
