During President Donald Trump’s epic press conference today, he was asked whether he would meet with the Congressional Black Caucus.
He said of course he would, if he were asked.
Well, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) decided to take him up on the offer and Cummings did it with words that are sure to make some on the left upset.
From Washington Examiner:
During a Thursday evening interview, the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer if he would go over to the White House “ASAP” if he were to get a call to meet with Trump.
“Yes, I would,” Cummings replied.
He disagreed with Trump’s characterization that he had put off a prior meeting.
Then he said those words that are going to get him in trouble with the rest of the left.
“I’m happy to meet with the president. Keep in mind, this is my president, this is your president for the next four years,” the Maryland lawmaker said. “And I’ve said it many times, Wolf, those things that we can work together on, social security, making sure that people’s children can get into college and be able to afford it, jobs, infrastructure, I’m with him. But where our values clash, that’s a whole ‘nother issue.”
He’s going to antagonize all those #NotMyPresident folks.
“Don’t normalize Trump!”
He’s admitting he will -gasp- work with Trump.
Shocker, he will likely get yelled at for that one…
