Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was turned into a nonsense-spewing, stuttering mess when a man at a town hall asked her how she can attack President Donald Trump for firing FBI Director James Comey despite the fact that she and her party had been calling for Comey’s firing since late last year.
Pelosi appeared on CNN for a May 15 TV town hall with host Chris Cuomo and when small business owner Jake Lee got his chance to ask the California Congresswoman a question he sent her into confusion when she tried to answer his question, the Daily Wire reported.
“Good evening, madam leader. Before the election on November 8, your side of the aisle were asking for the former head of the FBI to resign,” the businessman asked. “Now that he has been let go, why the sudden and selective outrage from your side of the aisle?”
Pelosi looked befuddled as she launched into her disjointed, hard to follow answer. She clumsily noted, “Some people were asking to be let go,” apparently trying to convey that some Democrats did want Comey to be fired before Trump took that action.
“I said I thought that it wasn’t a good — well suit — he wasn’t well-suited to the heat that comes with the job, but I never said that he should be fired,” Pelosi continued in a dazed manner.
She went on to try and answer Mr. Lee’s question — without really answering it — by pushing the liberal line that Trump fired Comey because of the faux Russia “investigation.”
…with Pelosi in mid-gesticulation. “And for the president of the United States to fire with his own self-admission that he didn’t like — he was tired of the Russia-Trump probe, is, uh, is, uh, uh, distressing. It’s distressing. We believe in the FBI as being an independent law enforcement agency, to be respected, and not to be fired by president because he’s tired of an investigation they’re doing.”
This is the same woman who on November 2 said that she thought Comey was “not in the right job.” So, between November and May Pelosi went from saying Comey was not the man to lead the FBI to sudden outrage that he was fired.
It is this sort of hypocrisy that lies at the heart of every stance Democrats take. When they are in charge, things are fine, but as soon as they are out of power they do a complete flip flop on what they said sometimes only weeks ago. And this business with firing Comey is a perfect example of that.
As Daily Wire noted, Pelosi was also asked about why she doesn’t support all this impeachment rhetoric being thrown around by liberals.
Interestingly, breaking with the liberal line, Pelosi seems to think there just isn’t any grounds for impeachment.
You’re talking about impeachment,” she said, “you’re talking about ‘what are the facts?’ Not, ‘I don’t like him,’ and ‘I don’t like his hair,’ what are the facts? ‘I don’t like what he said about this’ – what are the facts that you would make a case on? What are the rules that he may have violated?” she said.
“If you don’t have that case, you’re just participating in more hearsay. And that’s not the basis of a – and we owe the American people just some stability in all of this.
